Chicken with Red Curry

Submitted by Kalyn

This Chicken with Red Curry at Thai Siam Restaurant was perfectly prepared. It was spicy, but not too spicy and had lots of great curry flavor. This was one dish in a meal that included lots of other Thai favorites like Tom Ka Soup, Pad Thai Noodles, Chicken with Basil, and Green Papaya Salad. Everything was really excellent. I like it that you can ask for "genuine" Thai and they will prepare the food with less sugar, since many Thai restaurants sweeten the food for American palates.

Shipwreck Sandwich

Submitted by mottyl

The Riverfront Lanes was the only eating establishment open on a Sunday night in this sleepy southwest Washington coastal community. I was attracted by the name of this dish. I grew up with a dish called Shipwreck when I was a boy. It involved rice, tomato sauce and whatever was left over in the fridge. This original dish lives on in our household as something called Buscrash. The Shipwreck Sandwich is really a ham, cheese and tomato sandwich on a hoagie roll with tartar sauce. Lots of tartar sauce. South Bend is a coastal fishing community with an interesting history. Perhaps in historic seafaring terms, the frilly picks holding the sandwich together represent the masts of a shipwrecked schooner, the tartar sauce the oleogelatinous miasma of the crews souls. Either way, the tartar sauce would spooge out the back of the sandwich when you ate it - providing you with piles of dippin' media for your french fries. Final verdict: edible , but you really need to love tartar sauce. It went well with the bottle of Alaskan Amber Ale. And afterwards, they turned on the bowling alley for us and we played a couple of games. Life's a pretty sweet fruit.
Pitahaya @ Oyamel

Submitted by dcaCRL

Pitahaya (dragonfruit) salad @ Oyamel. It's got sort of a kiwi taste, and such a fun color. According to our server, pitahaya is only in season for about a month and this was such a popular dish when they first opened last summer that they brought it back this summer.
Chicken Alla Emilia at Biaggis

Submitted by Kalyn

I don't normally like franchise restaurants, but this was excellent. Grilled chicken breast stuffed with fontina cheese, Italian cured ham, and spinach. I had it with mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes for a low carb meal. It was excellent. The service was also very good. It was a nice lunch experience.
Garlic Bagel with Olive and Pimento Cream Cheese

Submitted by Missj

I knew I was onto a good thing when I spied a line of fellow carb cravers trailing out the door of this unassuming little bagel joint. Although my hips recoiled in horror upon ordering the spread it was too good to refuse..the chewy warm garlic bagel, covered with an oversized lashing of cream cheese, packed with juicy olives and sweet pimentos..delicious..they definately know their bagels..
Strict Vegetarian Meal

Submitted by Finn

A soggy Spring Roll on a bed of cold rice and even colder vegetables. It's 1:00am and I've stopped caring about taste, so I wolfed this down. Fruit cup was surprisingly refreshing.
Crepes a la Poulet

Submitted by bumblebee

Crepes a la Poulet (chicken) was ordered at DisneyWorld Epcot, Orlando, Florida. Epcot has a World Showcase of different country. This was at a France pavillion, at a restaurant call "Chefs de France". Cost was $7.95 US. Yummy. Delicious. As the french would say - tres bon.
Mexican Omelette

Submitted by Finn

Mix of fillings wrapped in three scrambled eggs, covered in salsa. Really can't go wrong. Perfect for a hangover.
Indian Takeout

Submitted by Finn

Turned the ordering duties over to my Indian friend Abdulla and he made some outstanding choices. Curries, tandoori, naan, rice - all things I couldn't spell, but made of an excellent dinner. Abdullla gave the overall meal only three stars, but I thought it deserved better. Mind you my Indian palette isn't as well developed as his, so I'll give it four.
