Green Tea Ice Cream

Submitted by Finn

Homemade Italian gelato, it's popping up everywhere it seems; I'm surprised 7-11 hasn't jumped on the bandwagon. But no matter how many places are serving, I like coming here. Well thought out flavours and generous scoops (one scoop here is like two scoops at other places) make this a favourite of mine. Tonight I had green tea flavour, rich, creamy and, well, full of green tea flavour.
Coeur a la Creme

Dessert at Sooke Harbour House

Submitted by janamel

A fancy dessert at a fancy restaurant. Um, I can't remember a lot of the details, but that's a marscapone-cheese-something wrapped in some kind of green leaf, with a braised strawberry and some other poached fruit balanced on top. This lovely creation is floating in a pond of elderberry water surrounded by fresh edible blooms. Inventive, non?
Apologies for not remembering more details but the evening got a bit fuzzy after the third glass of wine...delish, though: my all-time favourite restaurant. Ever.
Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream

Submitted by Finn

This place brought in Mario's Gelato from Vancouver, so I'm torn. Should I review them or not? In the end I guess they deserve a mention - at least they served local "micro-manufactured" ice cream instead of something commercially manufactured. Good ice cream, essentially strawberry swirled in with vanilla, but perfect on a warm Summer evening.
Cookie

Our favourite Gelato place is not so busy in the winter. Summertime you can barely get in the door, last weekend I could have fired a cannon through the place. Doesn't affect the ice cream though. Rich buttery flavour with cookie chunks throughout. Delicious no matter what season it is.
Helado

A pretty decent meal topped off with a nice ice cream dessert. Lamar and I are now best buddies. He says he'll see us tomorrow. I tell him we're leaving. I want to hug him but think better of it after the Moosehead Beer Apron incident. I think it was the right choice.

Big platter of these next to the register, how could I pass one up? Fancy Jewish name for a jelly donut I have to assume, I don't read Hebrew. Fresh, delicious and not too sweet. I'll take one of these over Tim Horton's or Krispy Kreme any day.
Apple Pie at IKEA

Submitted by nika

I attended the grand opening of the Ikea store in Stoughton, MA and tried out their restaurant. They had these 6 inch high apple pie slices that had a lovely glaze poured over-top.
The apples were tender but not mushy, tasty, spicy, moist. The glaze was a nice counterpoint. The crust was lovely, flaky and had a good body that kept it from flaking away.
I give this dessert a big thumbs-up and if you have a chance to visit IKEA sometime soon, check out their restaurant and this dessert.
Dessert - Raspberry Stuffed Shortbreads

Chocolate Torte

We were the only patrons in the restaurant, so I guess we got last night's dessert. This was stale and dry, a disappointing way to end a pretty good meal otherwise.
