Yellow Coconut Curry

Commercial Drive is THE home for cheap, filling ethic food. Whatever you're looking for you can pretty much find it there, except WASPY food but that you can pretty much get anywhere. Tonight it's Southeast Asian take-out from the Mekong Restaurant. Delicious coconut-based curry with a touch of peanut sauce mixed in. Tender chicken pieces and a few veggies thrown in for good measure. Nicely spiced and full flavoured. You can also get this with beef, tofu or shrimp.

SE Asian take-out in the park with your family. Summer doesn't get any better than this. I'm guessing from the name of this dish it is a Hot-Pot, but that's hard to pull off in a styrofoam container, so in the end this dish is essentially a veggie stir-fry with black bean sauce. A decent effort, not too salty as black bean sauce dishes tend to be. Vegetables still had some crunch to them, which is the way I like them. Probably would be better served in a Hot-Pot.

Veggie Stirfy

Glacier Creek has a larger food court. I had a hard time with the Australian accent the guy the guy who was serving me had. It's a common problem in Whistler where many Australians go work for the winter. I was there just before the lunch crowd so he had prepped some stir-fry. The result was that my food was cold. If it was hot, it would have been delicious.
